Abstract
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a collection of thousands of tiny nodes that are capable of sensing, computing, and wireless communications. Energy consumption is the major design issue which arises while designing routing protocols for wireless sensor network. . Since wireless sensor network protocols are application specific, so the focus has been given to the routing protocols that might differ depending on the application and network architecture. The study of various routing protocols for sensor networks presents a classification for the various approaches pursued. The routing protocols have been categorized into two type based on network structure and based on the type of operation performed by the protocols. Various protocols have been examined along with their pros and cons
Keywords- WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK, ROUTING PROTOCOLS
