Abstract
Present study is focused on strengthening the sub-grade of pavement using GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) and Cement for its improvement. In this paper, experimental study is conducted on the stabilized clayey soil using mixture of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag and Cement. The percentage of the mixture was decided based on various research papers and also after finding the index and engineering properties of soil. The strength of the soil is improved by stabilization. CBR and Tri-axial tests were performed on virgin soil and stabilized soil to assess the improvement in the strength properties. This stabilization increases the load bearing capacities of soil for heavy wheeled vehicle traffic.
Keywords- CBR value, Shear strength parameters, Stabilization, Subgrade improvement, GGBS and Cement
