Coordination of over-current relay using Hybrid GA-NLP method

the overcurrent relays are major protection devices in distribution system. The relays in the power system have to be coordinated so as to and hence to avoid unnecessary outage of healthy part of the system. This paper presents hybrid genetic algorithm (GA)-nonlinear programming approach to find optimal value of Time multiplier setting(TMS) and Plug setting(PS) of overcurrent relay. It also presents load flow and short circuit analysis of 9 bus ring main system using Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP).
