A Novel Approach of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) For Energy-Efficient Routing Protocol in MANET

Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a multihop wireless network with mobile nodes that can move independently. Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are infrastructure-free networks created by wireless mobile devices with restricted battery life. This kind of limited battery capacity throughout MANETs makes it essential to think about the energy-awareness characteristic in their design. Due to the fact , routing protocols have key role in MANETs, their very own energy-awareness increases network life time by efficiently employing of the available limited energy. TORA is one particular of these routing protocols that offer high degree of scalability. This kind of paper employs the Binary Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (BPSO) to add typically the energy-awareness feature to the particular TORA routing protocol. Typically the proposed protocol considers paths length in its route selection process and furthermore includes routes energy levels in its calculations. That formulates the routing problem as an optimization problem and then employs BPSO to select a route that will maximizes a weighted functionality with the route length in addition to the route energy levels. Extensive simulations in ns-2 simulator environment show of which the proposed routing protocol, called BPSO-TORA, prolongs the particular network lifetime remarkably and even outperforms TORA in conditions of network life time, system life time and even total delivered data.
