Abstract
People who live in rural areas in India adopted various employment methods to earn money to fulfill their minimum requirements. But, still they are not finding proper employment and do not have sufficient earnings. In the year 2006 October 2nd government of India started an employment guarantee scheme called “Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme” (MGNREGS) to provide employment to the people who live in rural areas by enacting a bill in the parliament as an Act. The present research was undertaken to assess the problems faced by MGREGS workers, to evaluate the perceptions and socio economic problems of MGNREGS workers in select mandals of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh.
